Insights March 20th, 2019

Back in 2018 Futurist Speaker Nikolas Badminton started sharing his thoughts and opinions on Youtube using a vlog format. Quick insights and provocative ideas have ensued. In Futurist Keynote Speaker Thoughts on Design. we see some of his thoughts on how we need to look at design in the modern world:

Knowledge, empathy, and DESIGN THINKING

Oftentimes we all think that we lack skills or can do our job to the full potential because we don’t have certain abilities. The truth of the matter is that all of our experiences, thoughts, and opinions matter. And, it’s those along with empathy that feed the process of design thinking.

The YYZ iPad NIGHTMARE vs. GOOD Human-centred Design

In 2018 Nikolas published this post on Linkedin where he talk about the poorly considered iPad domination of T3 in Toronto Pearson (YYZ) airport. We need to step up good customer experience in airports. This is not it. I’ve had an amazing response – over 34K views on Linkedin. I returned a week later and got footage of what is on the iPads and shared some more thoughts.

Be CHILDLIKE to be a better designer

We often forget to stop and look at the world in a playful way. While walking along Spanish Banks in Vancouver I realized the people, dogs, textures, birds, and view was inspiring. I felt childlike. It inspired me to make this video to remind us all how important that is in the context of designing technology.
