In ‘Thought Paper: A Platform for Business Innovation’ we see Nikolas Badminton’s perspective on business innovation in the modern age. This has been written in support of the Waterloo Innovation Summit on September 13th to 15th 2017 where Nikolas is the Strategic Curator.
In a complex, unpredictable and fast-changing world consumers, citizens, and savvy business leaders don’t stand still. Businesses are embracing a culture of innovation with the hope of remaining relevant and competing in the new exponential world.
This Thought Paper looks at how work is changing, how we can create a platform for business innovation, and identifies technology’s role in that process.
Four main recommendations are made and deeper considerations presented:

  1. Build innovation culture into every part of your organization.
  2. Identify, evaluate and learn from new marketplace ideas.
  3. Optimize your workforce through empowerment, diversity, and leveraging creativity.
  4. Automate but have an approach to integrate “human and the machine” for critical touchpoint tasks.
